I've given up - sort of

I didn't like the name or style of this blog, so I have now moved on to a new blog - it's simpler in design, but will cover the same ideas - please visit http://all4thebeautifulgame.blogspot.com/

Cheers!

Wow! Already a Post...and Sir Alex's fine did not increase!

(Sir Alex Ferguson - Looking Happier Than Ever)

As I'm sure people will be able to guess - Yes, I am a Liverpool fan - but I hope that does not turn people away - I look at myself as fair footy fan who is willing to look at all sides of the picture (who just happens to be also a die hard Liverpool fan).

But, for my first post, I want to take a quick look at Sir Alex Ferguson's recent touchline ban.  Most would assume that I would be thrilled...well they would be wrong.  Sure, Fergie is a bully and loves to have a go at anyone and anything that even remotely goes against his ideas, but the FA is quickly becoming a useless and archaic governing body that doles out punishments randomly and clearly proving to the beautiful game loving public that simply, they do not like Sir Alex.

Criticizing a ref is part of any sport - coming from Toronto, we Maple Leafs fans still think Kerry Fraser (a supposedly great ice hockey ref) made a stupid call that cost the Leafs a place in the Stanley Cup finals back in 1993 - everyone went off on him, and there were no punishments for anyone (or so I can assume - I was only 9 at the time).

The fact that his ban won't end until May makes it all the more ridiculous.  I am beginning to understand why Fergie has a media blackout - he seemingly can't do anything without pissing someone off - and usually, it seems to be the rather sissy acting FA.

Reprimand him, wrist-slap him, but 5 games and £30,000 is nuts and looks arbitrary.  I honestly believe the FA has lost the plot and needs to either settle down or disappear, preferably the latter.

Welcome to Ultimate Footy

Greetings everyone,

This new blog will be posted on regularly (or more likely whenever I have an opinion on an event in the world of football and Skysports.com is not posting my opinions) and will be about everything that has to do with the beautiful game focusing on current football but occasionally, when the mood strikes me, a little history.  I don't expect many people to read this, but at least I have a forum.
